Ok. My biggest confusion for this week was how to update my blog. I drew a blank as far as research goes, and as of this hour, i still need to do more sketches of my Scientist and Robot characters.
Specifically, i didn't know how to research my thesis in terms of the Historical and Technical Aspects. The aesthetic aspect is easy because i intend on running through my comic collection to find the artists who inspired me, like John Cassaday, who's work you can see below.
Historically, i'm thinking about the movies I mentioned in my last post, but i don't know if that's enough. The idea i had, though, is since I intend to use this thesis as an eventual Launch for a comic book world i want to create, i'm going to look at others who introduced their characters by unusual means, or those who were launched in one medium, but transfered to another and took major hold on popularity (like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles--- originally a comic book, it wasn't big until it became a cartoon).
Technically, I'll probably look at The Incredibles, since as of right now, that's the only comic-book oriented 3D animation. Beyond that, i want to look at Ice effects and Electricity effects in Maya, see who's done it and how.
Any help or suggestions that you guys can provide would be most appreciated, specifically in the areas of Historical and Technical research.
For now though, here's 3 pictures of John Cassaday's covers to Captain America.

What inspires me by these pieces and all of Cassaday's work is the level of extreme detail he puts into every piece. He's the first artist to make Captain America's costume look like the Body Armor it's supposed to, not just generic superhero tights. It's layered in realism, which is what i hope to aspire to, in terms of my drawings.
